Mimi Alene,

a partner in Soul Spa is a licensed massage therapist. She has been described by her clients as having “healing hands” transmitting a positive energy that gets results.

Practicing for more than 10 years, primarily in the Long Beach area she specializes in deep tissue and sports massage and is also trained in a variety of therapies including prenatal, Swedish, hot stone and Indian Head along with reflexology for the feet and hands. A native of Ethiopia, she moved to the United States in 1991 by way of Germany.

She became interested in this specialized form of healing after helping a relative overcome an injury by using massage techniques her cousin described to her following treatments following visits to a chiropractor. After a few weeks, the cousin had noticeable improvement and Alene literally found her calling.

She went on to receive formal training at Trinity College in San Jose, Calif., where she earned her degree in massage therapy. During her tenure there, she also interned with a sports chiropractor to garner additional experience.

Upon completion of the program, she relocated to Long Beach and spent six years with Gallagher Sports Chiropractic in Belmont Shore.

More than anything else, Alene sites the immense satisfaction she receives from helping others relieve their pain and feels privileged to be able to practice this healing art.
